Kinesiotherapy - Body Mechanics Program

The body mechanics Kinesiotherapy program is a corrective therapy program that is an active functional program focusing on:

Posture, gait re-training, correct body mechanics, breathing techniques, active strength and flexibility work, sleeping, driving, transitions, bending and moving techniques, proper lifting techniques, posture during exercise, with and without weights, with emphasis, at all times, on technique and position.

Everyone learns the same basic ways to move no matter what the age or diagnoses with variations for different populations, stemming off this knowledge.  Modifications are made to adjust to individual’s tolerance and needs from the senior woman whose goals may be to work in the garden to the weekend warrior who lives for golf; from the industrial injured worker who wants to get back to work or the professional athlete whose goal is to return to  competitive sports.

We want to increase your, body awareness, isolation skills, muscle function, biomechanics, unit moving skills, and how to apply all of this to your lifestyle to ultimately gain body control! This gives patients the skills necessary to manage their mechanical problems, related to the activities of daily living, work, recreation and sport environments. We  progress to full function as this neuromuscular re-education process gives patients the skills necessary to manage their own bodies. And fix themselves.

These sessions are structured to meet the needs of all levels of client function and age, and are progressed according to patient tolerance. This program is challenging and achievable for all abilities and diagnoses as modifications are made immediately when problems occur.

For low level of function or elderly patients, activities of daily living are stressed to gain strength in necessary areas to improve the quality of their lives. (Getting out of bed, kitchen mechanics, daily housework mechanics, transitions, shopping technique, etc)

For the regular population with aches and pains from life’s stresses in general, movement techniques are taught to decrease the stress in injured parts and how to apply all of this to their lifestyles.  Learning to think about what you do and how you move before you move, gives you the ability to control your dysfunctions.

For the athlete, the program is structured to meet the specific needs of their particular sport incorporating all the movement skills involved with  the sport to maximize their power, decrease injury, and improve performance by creating a symmetrically muscle structure that you can control.

For the industrial worker, it is structured to re-educate movement for their work tasks. Educating the worker in how to modify their body position to best handle the demands of the workload and the equipment, to prevent further injury, is essential. Increasing body awareness, energy conservation techniques, helps workers tolerate their workload and have more energy at the end of the day to enjoy their family and lifestyles.

Pre-Op patients benefit considerably from sessions  learning to move correctly before surgery. Removing the stress from the injured area  allows patients  to use different muscles to take over the workload. This knowledge helps patients tolerate the surgical process with less pain as skills are learned in how to move and set the muscle structure to prevent stress into injured areas to expedite the healing process.

Post-Op-start with low level treatment, alignment and manual therapy, to allow surgical site to heal, and education in moving correctly to build strength and range of motion actively. Applying the concepts learned into the  lifestyle  by creating new habits of operation improves recovery.
