Physical Therapy
What is physical therapy,
and how is physical therapy at BST different from
other clinics?
Physical therapy is rehabilitation to improve on physical impairments and functional limitations after an injury or illness. It can incorporate soft tissue mobilization and many other manual techniques (joint mobilization, myofascial release, passive and active range of motion/stretching), exercises, and modalities (electrical stimulation, laser, ultrasound, traction). This is a description of orthopedic physical therapy, which is the type of physical therapy offered at Body Stabilization Training. Physical Therapy is also used in hospitals, pediatrics, nursing homes, schools, and business in different ways. Massage is a very small piece of the Physical Therapy puzzle.
Massage therapy is hands on soft tissue manipulation using different techniques (deep tissue, Swedish, myofascial release, trigger point release, rubbing or kneading of the muscles, stretching, etc.), either for therapeutic or relaxation purposes. Education varies and so does quality. We at Body Stabilization Training do refer patients to a licensed massage therapist who has a background in medicine to ensure quality.
